Original period manufacture. A complete example of the famed steel helmet worn by Germanys Fallschirmjager during WWII. This one is in totally out-of-the-woods condition, meaning the dust and dirt that have accumulated on the helmet during and after WWII remains intact. As stated, the helmet is complete with its original chinstrap and leather liner which is size marked 59 with the makers name stamped forward of the size stamp. The leather of both the liner and chinstrap are sound, slightly dry to the touch, but no indication of dry rot or other damage, just a little bit of surface cracking to the liner leather. The blue/gray leather chinstrap is pliable and complete. The exterior of the helmet is finished in a dark green paint with the original eagle decal as shown, all four of the original spanner bolt rivets are in place and secure. The only issues to note would be a split in the zinc liner band in the front of the helmet and the light surface corrosion on the top of the helmet and side near the eagle. As we said, this helmet has never been cleaned or otherwise abused by a well-meaning previous owner. Likely the helmet looks as it did the day the GI brought it home from WWII.
