Original period manufacture. Black and white image of Panzerschiff Admiral Scheer. Message and stamped cancellation on the reverse, the postage stamp is missing.A successful surface raider in the Indian Ocean early in WWII, participated in the attacks on Convoy PQ-17 on the Murmansk Run, supported German ground troops against Soviet attacks in 1944, and was sunk by British aircraft in April 1945.
