Original era manufacture. Stout, rounded blade shovel which measures 44 inches in overall length. Dark steel patina finish to the shovel blade, with a makers logo and 1943 date on the top of the blade. The blade is sound, you could dig a hole with this, the handle is as well, no dry rot, but does show numerous insect holes from time and neglect.
