Original era manufacture. Polished steel blade measuring 31 inches in length, Krebs logo on the reverse ricasso. The blade runs straight and clean with a few very tiny nicks in its cutting edge about 8 inches from the tip. Light surface staining from old cosmoline. Chrome finished guard and pommel showing grime and old cosmoline in its recesses. Black painted wood grip with wear to the paint surface, single wire binding with an aluminum eagle set into the grip body. Proper police sword knot wrapped around the guard and grip. Dent free black painted steel scabbardretaining most of it'soriginal finish. All fitting screws are present, there is some light corrosion staining on the drag but most could be made to go away with a careful cleaning. Stamped into the top of the scabbard throat are the double SS runes within a box, often seen on police swords. This sword was one of many souvenirs brought home to the US after the end of WWII by Corporal R.D.Easler, 3468th Ordnance Company, US Army.
