Original era manufacture. This helmet has an interesting story, a resurrection of sorts, and I'd like to share it with you beforeI begin the description. We were contacted near the end of last year by a local collector, a man who we have known for decades, and he asked if we would be interested in purchasing his helmet collection. We of course said yes, and set a date for early January 2016. During the course of our inspection of his helmets, we saw this really interesting private purchase Police helmet, but missing the metal swastika. Too bad, we thought, what a great helmet, we'll never find the proper swastika to replace it. Well the collection was purchased, boxed up, loaded into our vehicle and off toMesa we went to begin the processing of the pile. About two months later we received an excited phone call from our friend, while moving a bookshelf in preparationfor his move, the missing metal swastika was found...unbelievable luck, and presence of mind on his part.So here we are, a black satin finished Police pattern steel helmet with twoscreen ventilators set into the crown on each side. On the left side is a small aluminumtri-color shield, and on the right, the newly found chrome finished swastika. Now the reason for its having gone AWOL in the first place, is that the small screwpost and nut on its reverse has broken off, never to be found, and will have to have a small repair made to secure it again. At present, it is secured (sort of) with a small piece of clear tape.Simpletan leather lining with drawstring, and a full and complete length black leather chinstrap, both in quite sound condition. A great looking helmet and a rather scarce pattern we feel, first we have owned.
