Original era manufacture. Standard pattern hewer worn by enlisted personnel of the RAD. Blade shows an even steel patina with clear makers marks on the ricasso, Ed Wusthof and nice contrast to the motto, Arbeit Adelt. No corrosion issues or nicks in the cutting edge. Real stag grip plates with no cracks or chips, nickel finished guard and pommel. The scabbard body retains nearly 100% of its original black painted finish, with just a few very small scratches in the surface, no dents or damage. All fitting screws are present, a very nice RAD hewer. This RAD enlisted hewer was one of many souvenirs brought home to the US after the end of WWII by Corporal R.D.Easler, 3468th Ordnance Company, US Army.
