Original era manufacture. Issue rifle cleaning kit for the K98 rifle. Pressed steel tobacco can with most of its original ordnance gray paint finish remaining. Coded and dated 1943.The contents include, linked pull-through, bakelite oiler, and both cleaning brushes, normal age and wear overall. The floor plate tool is missing, GI waterproof spare parts pouch used for carrying. This cleaning kit formed part of the WWII souvenirs of  Captain L. Smith, 183rd FA Battalion, which arrived in France in June 1944. The small photo shows Captain Smith in Europe, dated November 1944. The photo is not included in the lot.
