Original era manufacture. Standard S84/98 bayonet & mounted pattern frog, mismatched blade to scabbard, cof 43 and cul 44.Typical Eickhorn wartime production, with extensivemilling marks visible on the blade, giving one the impression that this was a May of 1945 produced bayonet, instead of1943. The blade is clean, some of the original finish remains in the fullers, and the point is sharp. Steel patina finish to the guard and pommel with a working lock button.Dent free blue steel finished scabbard with throat screw intact, original black leather mounted pattern frog with white top stitching and an intact pommel strap. In our photographs you will see some staining on the reverse of the pommel and some surface corrosion on the scabbard body. Normally I give these old bayonets a light bath before giving them to Terri for photographing, but as my garage work bench area usually is at 100 degrees during our Arizona summers, I decided to opt out on this one. But, asI was typingup this description I just couldn't stand it anymore, so off to the garage I went and gave'er a quick bath. Much better now.Overall typical age and wear, frog is sound, although the stitching on one side has opened up about an inch and a half.
