Original era manufacture. Standard pattern late war S84/98 bayonet with nearly all of its original finish remaining, on the pommel and scabbard, BUT, not on the blade. For some inexplicable reason, the previous owner decided to remove the finish from the blade to bright steel. The blade wasn't buffed or polished, just removed the bluing and did a very light sharpening to the edge. Perhaps this can be restored, because in every other respect this bayonet would have been a stunner.Nice dark red bakelite grips with beautiful blue finish to the screw heads, matt blue finished, dent free scabbard showing a touch of surface corrosion near the tip. And, best of all, a near new condition late war frog, with white stitching and RB numbered reverse.Matching serial numbers blade to scabbard, 1939 I, pretty interesting serial number isn't it.....
