Original era manufacture. Standard pattern early war S84/98 bayonet with nearly all of its original finish remaining on the blade, guard, and pommel. Issue date of 1939 on the spine. Maker marked Berg & Co., serial number 5778b. Satin blue finish to the blade with no issues, nice blue finish to the guard and pommel, lock button is operable. Dark plum bakelite grips with no cracks or chips. Original finish blue steel scabbard, dent free, scattered spots of surface corrosion, throat screw is in place. Basically sound black leather mounted pattern frog with white stitching. Pommel strap removed, there is a break in the leather above the frog stud opening.
