Original era manufacture. Matching numbers blade to scabbard 4938d and dated 42 on the spine. Coded jwh (Staatliche Waffenfabrik, Chatellerault, France)on the blade ricasso and scabbard throat. Decent blue finish remaining on the blade, few small nicks in the cutting edge. Sound dark plum bakelite grips, light surface corrosion on the pommel and flashguard. Steel scabbard missing its throat screw, rough texture cleaned corrosion finish. Shallow dent midway down the reverse. Scarce maker.
