Original era manufacture. A standard WWII era S84/98 bayonet for the K98 rifle, of mid-war quality of manufacture, with the only visible markings being the manufacturers initials of W.K.C. stamped into the ricasso. In the "old days", these were often referred to as commercial production, produced during the war and sold to other countries. Today there are a number of interesting theories regarding their manufacture, with the general consensus being produced for use for non-Wehrmacht organizations equipped with rifles. If you do an online search you will discover several respected forums discussing these, some suggesting possible SS use being produced at KZL Dachau. In overall condition the bayonet is quite clean with the only finish wear being on the point of the blade. Dark red bakelite grips in good repair, near dent-free scabbard with a shallow surface dent on the reverse.
