Original era manufacture. A very clean example with a blade showing a makers code of asw (Horster) and date of 42. The scabbard is relatively dent free, shows most of its original finish and is maker marked E.PACK&S and dated 1938. The blade is unsharpened, has a good point and shows the neat looking maroon color finish sometimes seen on German rifles and bayonets. Dark plum bakelite grips with even steel patina finish on the pommel and flashguard.
