Original era manufacture. A very clean example of the WWII German K98 rifle bayonet, brought home at the end of WWII by T-3 John P. Rodrigues, Company A, 136th Maintenance Company, 14th Armored Division. Most of the original finish remains on the blade surface, satin blue, with no corrosion issues. There are no markings to be seen on the spine or ricasso.Mix of steel patina and blue finish to the guard and pommel, with two waffenamts visible, which appear to be WaA883. Nice dark plum bakelite grips; no flashguard, with a visible waffenamt code of WaA883.Clean, dent-free steel scabbard which retains nearly all of its original blue finish. Maker coded and dated crs 43 on the reverse, but without a serial number. The throat screw is present, waffenamt code on the ball tip, which appears to be WaA518.
