German WWII S84/98 Service Bayonet, Frog & Knot

Original era manufacture. Standard Wehrmacht service bayonet of WWII, maker marked by Coppel, and 40 dated on the blade spine. The blade has a satin blue finish at the ricasso, blending to a mottled finish towards the point. It has not been sharpened, and shows a light amount of surface corrosion.Blue finish to the guard and pommel, with clear waffenamt proofs, light dusting of surface corrosion to the finish. Dark plum bakelite grips showing normal age and wear, with no damage.Sound mounted pattern leather frog with pommel strap and white top stitching. All of the rivets are in place, the leather is pliable, and the stitching remains tight. Some scuffing to the surface on the body of the frog. Wrapped around the waist is a rather soiled and worn bayonet knot.The scabbard does not match the blade by maker or serial number, has a mix of blue and steel patina to the finish, with a good size dent in the body on the front. The blade can be easily drawn from the scabbard.All in all, the bayonet presents ahonest combat-used condition, a typical GI souvenir of WWII.
