Original era manufacture. Early quailty dagger with nickel fittings and an anodized scabbard finish. The obverse of the blade is bright and clean with good definition to the motto, on the reverse is the Eickhorn logo close to the base of the ricasso and very clear evidence of grinding up and down its length which indicates the removal of the Ernst Rohm motto. The scabbard finish now displays are rather purplish hue with some scattered light denting. All of the scabbard fitting screws are present and of course, the ball tip is properly dented. Attatched to the carrying ring is a dagger hanger however the leather is a current replacement, the metal fittings are original. No chips, cracks or dents to the wooden grip, both emblems are in place. Sound original dagger with an interesting history. Group markings on the reverse of the lower guard are he for Hesse.
