Original era manufacture. An aluminum badge with a copper coating and then silver washed. Circular lathe marks on the reverse, with a distinctive flaw running up the length of the rifle on the reverse. Wire catch opens to the right. Some type of makers marking in the upper left. See page 56 in "The Infantry Assault Badge" by Sascha Weber. Noted as a very rare variation.
