German WWII Summer Luftwaffe Visor Hat

Original period manufacture. Private purchase, Luftwaffe enlisted white topped summer hat piped in golden yellow wool for flight or fallschirmjager. White cotton removable top in a waffle-pattern with a white cord piping around its edge. At front is a second pattern aluminum eagle. The interior of the top has a white silk cover which drops down and covers the prongs of the cap eagle. Standard Luftwaffe ribbed body band in black mohair with golden yellow piping at top and bottom. Wide leather sweatband which is securely sewn to the body of the hat, two small bug bites in the leather on the right side. Patent leather chinstrap and visor with a sewn edge binding. The white top is a little soiled from handling and age but they were meant to be washed. No holes or major stains, size marked 57.The hat displays well and is not crushed or broken.
