Original era manufacture. 6x16 black & white hand stenciled wooden sign, BEFEHLSSTELLE KOMMANDANTUR on each side. There is a handwritten notation on one end, Mont Alto Di Castro Italy July 20 1944. The sign has a repairable split at the top and shows typical age and crazing on both sides. Montalto di Castro Italy was part of the Anzio Campaign and was later a USAAF 9th AF Airbase. Neat item.
