German WWII, Unknown Visor Hat, Bellman at the Nurnberg Hilton?

Original period manufacture. This is another old friend we found in the same box as our Mining Officials hat. Dark gray wool top and band with maroon piping. Nickel silver cross key emblem on the crown, with a silver colored cockade with a swastika at center on the band. It appears to never had a chinstrap as I did not detect any signs of buttons being sewn there. The lining is of dark red cotton with a rather tattered sweatshield with silver imprinted makers information. The sweatband shows considerable wear and use with areas of stitching having opened up. Ok guys, what is this???
