Original period manufacture. This is an interesting dress bayonet, standard 10 inch blade with a chrome finish and displaying an unusual makers name on the ricasso, BARON SOLINGEN. Sound black plastic grips with a chrome finished guard and pommel. The most interesting feature regarding it is the fact that the scabbard body is finished in a gloss black, fired enamel surface, similar to a WWI German messkit or canteen body. It is not painted, or blued, first of its type we can recall seeing. The tiny throat screw just above the frog stud is missing, otherwise the bayonet is quite sound.
