Original period manufacture. A sound example of a wartime produced canteen set with an olive green painted aluminum cup, brown wool covered aluminum body,  brown leather suspension straps, with an aluminum snap-hook.The body is free of dents, with no mothing to the wool cover. Minimal paint loss to the canteen cup, no visible markings.The leather suspension straps are a little stiff, but remain pliable, and will work just fine for display. I would not however advise trying to unbuckle the strap to look at the canteen closure cap. This old leather is very forgiving, but it has it's limits.
