Item #64719 : Original era manufacture. A private purchase quality hat, ofregulation pattern, being worn by an officer in the 22nd Regiment, New York National Guard. Unbound leather visor with a dark blue body, and officers pattern chincord. Sewn to the front of the hat is a very nice hand embroidered gold wreath with the numbers 22 and red wool backing. The gilded brass side buttons both display the eagle for the NYNG. Purplish-black polished cotton lining displaying the MC Lilly company logo in silver. No sweatband. There are a few small moth bites, none worth worrying over, overall the hat is quite clean and very presentable. The 22nd Regiment NYNG saw service during the Civil War, and was one of 12 New York regiments federalized for service during the Spanish American War.
