US Navy Identified Senior Officer Visor Hat, Commander, USS Sigourney DO-642
Item #66651 : Original era manufacture. Regulation, private purchase quality hat with gold wire embroidery on the visor, and a nice quality two piece officer's grade hat eagle. Named on the interior to Gerald Judson Scott, Commander USS Sigourney. White cotton top, no moth issues, good research potential. Size about a 7 1/4. The Viking by Hilborn-Hamburger manufacture. I have found listings on Ancestry showing his birth in 1920, and death in 2002. He attended Annapolis in 1938, and was likely made an officer at the beginning of WWII. He retired out in the rank of Commander. The USS Sigourney (DD-643) was a Fletcher Class Destroyer which served from 1943-1960. Good research project.
