US WWI Army Officers Visor Hat, A Beauty
Item #68847 : Original period manufacture. A beautiful example of the US Army Officers visor hat of the WWI era, I believe to be the pattern 1912. Hard to believe this is over 100 years old. Olive wool top with a tan mohair cap band, tan leather adjustable chinstrap, with a matching color painted visor with bound edge. Securely sewn brown leather sweatband, with a bright silver imprint stating "Patents Pending". Pinkish gray silk lining with a diamond shaped sweat diamond, bearing the name TURKS Burlington VT in silver. Darkened brass eagle side buttons and officer pattern hat eagle to complete. The only drawbacks are the four pencil point moth bites in the wool, one on the top and three in the body. I see no evidence that this hat was ever worn. Size about a 6 3/4.
