Item #68148 : Original period manufacture. Dark blue wool regulation army officer's dress hat with gold wire embroidery on the visor indicating a field grade officer , size marked 7 1/8. NS Meyer New York retailer's name printed on the sweatshield. The owners card is slipped into the liner pocket, Lieutenant Colonel Donald Parker Spalding. The hat displays honest age and wear with a few scattered moth bites in the wool, mostly visible on the visor. The sweatband is not loose. Donald Parker Spalding, 1893-1972, served in the Massachusetts Militia, then US Army from 1913-1948, promoted to Lt.Col in 1940, Colonel in 1946.
