Helmets German
German WWII Army M1940 Steel Helmet, NS66, Identified
Item #66912 : Original era manufacture. A sound example of the classic German Army helmet, with an original Heer pattern decal as shown. Most of the original factory paint remains on the shell mixed with steel patina and surface corrosion. Size and maker marked NS66, lot number DN22. A fairly sound leather liner with an original draw string, several of the fingers are torn through, seam stitching torn in the back as shown. Hand painted rank and name on the inside of the rear skirt, Uffz. Stark. Slot washers and rivets in place. Original chinstrap, but rather stiff and has had a leather dressing applied to it. The rivet heads are a different shade of green than the helmet body so they may have been replaced, the liner fits the helmet properly.
