Original period manufacture. Pike gray doeskin wool body with green wool collar, cuffs and piping. As worn by a junior grade officer in the Austrian Army, prior to the outbreak of WWI, During that conflict, the Austro-Hungarian Empire formed part of the Central Powers, along with her allies, Imperial Germany, and the Turkish Ottoman Empire. Six gilded brass buttons down the front, and six on the tail of the coat. On the front, between the 3rd and 4th button, is a small gray wool pocket for a watch. On the front of the collar are four gold embroidered six pointed stars, two on each side for the rank of Oberleutnant. There is a small gilded brass button on the reverse of each cuff on the seam. White quilted silk upper body lining, with a green silk lining to the skirt. White silk half belt in the front, secured with three buttons. Costume company tag sewn into the lining. Fading to the fabric color on each shoulder, which extends down the left arm, and not as much on the right. Some minor seam opening on the lining, the collar insignia appear to have been reapplied. No moth issues to report, minor fraying to the white silk lining of the collar. Size about a 38 regular.
