Item #62698 : Original period manufacture. This large, shield-shaped wooden plaque measures 14.25 x 16 inches, with a lacquered finish over the mahogany board. Secured to the surface are 24 silver plates, each held in place with tiny nails. Three of the plates measure 3.25 x 2 inches and twenty-one measuring 3.25 x 1 inch. Two of the plaints have come off over the years and the two loose ones bear Japanese silver assay proof marks of 950 on their reverse. The plates display names and dates of club members and their activities during the years 1955-1957 Above the center column of plaques is a full size example of the Tokyo Sports Car Club grille badge. This large trophy plaque was purchased by me off of EBAY about 20 years ago or so, when I was actively collecting Sports Car Badges, and other related material. It was my intention to re-mount the loose plates and hang the shield in my garage, but just never got around to it. The lacquer is lifting in spots and the silver plates show scattered toning and patina to their surfaces. It needs a little TLC but what a great display piece for a Sports Car enthusiast.
