Original era manufacture. This is a very interesting sword for several reasons. First of all it is German made Italian Navy Sword, 30 inch polished steel blade with etched panels on each side. Horster Solingen name on the reverse ricasso. The blade is clean, straight and no nicks in its cutting edge. Nice gilded brass guard with one side which folds down for wear. Nice lions head pommel with a small crown securing nut. White painted coarse grip with single wire binding. Decent black leather scabbard with quality brass fittings. The second interesting feature is a hand applied inscription which wraps around the scabbard throat. It's basically scratched into the surface and is rather faint, in fact, we didn't notice it unitl Terri began photographing it. The obvese side reads something like this, R.L.Lee from Maxime Garibaldi, and follows is a rather wordy inscription which is applied to both sides of the throat. With a little time it can no doubt be deciphered.
