Original era manufacture. Another very clean example, with a diameter measuring 17 inches. The top of the helmet has a smooth surface, with a central peak, and a family Mon done in gold leaf.The underside of the helmet exhibits a black lacquer finish, a traditional Japanese process, worked for thousands of years. The cloth head pad, and padded chinstrap are missing.Overall the helmet displays light wear, with no nicks in the front edge of the helmet, and some shallow finish cracking on the underside of the helmet.The Edo period existed from approximately 1603-1868, with our example dating from the later years of that time.
