Original era manufacture. A well made weapon, featuring a 21.5 inch polished steel blade, with kanji markings on the ricasso. The two central characters in the lower arc, equate to the Meiji year 24, 1891.The blade is clean and bright, in original polish, with minimal staining from age.Black painted iron guard and pommel with matching finish to the simple wooden grips. Minor finish loss is exhibited but typical for its age.Black painted leather scabbard with matching finish metal fittings. The chape staple is a bit loose, the throat is solidly attached.
