Original era manufacture. Later pattern 1886 hat with a shorter crown. Dark blue top with a double yellow wool band and piping with a center blue strip. Black patent leather visor with a bound edge, black patent leather chinstrap with two brass cherry blossom buttons. Black calfskin sweatband with a white silk ribbon trim and the makers name in the black silk lining. No moth issues, as the removable khaki cotton cover has protected the hat very well. There is a crease in the visor but it is not broken through, some bug bites to the khaki cotton cover but that is an exceedlingly rare accessory. Scarce hat
