Original period manufacture. Another item from the same collection purchased last year. Blue & yellow wool 1886 style cap with a brass star on its front, Chrysanthemumside buttons and a black leather chinstrap & visor. It resides in a period bamboo wood box with an extensive set of kanji written on the underside of the lid reportedly detailing the service of the hat's original owner. The hat shows wear and use but is in sound condition overall for its age.
