Original era manufacture. Early production bayonet introduced in 1885. Overall length is 22 3/4 inches, with an 18 inch blade.Even steel patina finish overall, with original finish wooden grips, with a long locking bar on the obverse grips.Stamped into the guard are the numbers 131, and two Japanese characters. The Chrysanthemum marking is not present, possibly removed, and the other markings added for later use as a training weapon. Rare, early Japanese bayonet.
