Original era manufacture. This is what we believe this to be, an early pattern, perhaps Meiji era, lacquered box for an order of the Golden Kite. There is a wonderful hand-painted design on the lid of the box as shown. The interior has been modified with the removal of the medal cushion and replaced with a piece of gold brocade cloth. We idenify this case as for the Golden Kite due to it's size, measuring roughly 4x2.5x1 inches. Light age and wear.
