Original period documents. An interesting grouping of documents pertaining to the 1938 visit to the United States, by a resident of Okinawa to investigate educational affairs in the USA. During his journey to the USA he traveled as a passenger aboard the Taiyo Maru, which during the war was sunk by USS Grenadier in May of 1942. Photos, ships postcard (Ukishima Maru) documents and other ephemera.
