Original era manufacture. What a helmet. Classic WWII Japanese Army steel helmet, with it's original helmet cover, both displaying the results of a bullet or shrapnel strike in the same location. Whatever struck this helmet did not penetrate the shell but left a tear through the fabric of the cover and a sizable impact dent on the shell itself. The helmet is complete with it's original pigskin liner, with a Showa 17 (1942) date on the underside of the front pad, the left side pad is present but loose. Original star and rivets with paint as shown, partial chinstrap. The liner is well used, displaying considerable soiling from service use, yet retains it's original star emblem on the front with clear markings on the interior, which match the markings of the helmet liner. A very poignant WWII relic.
