Original era manufacture. A sound example of the WWII Japanese Army enlisted canteen, with an original GI inscription on the reverse of the canteen body, identifying the battlefield where it was recovered. A fair amount of original olive brown paint remains on the aluminum body, with clear issue markings on the bottom of the bottle. Hand inscribed on the reverse of the canteen body is the following "Hollandia Air Strip, Dutch New Guinea". This Japanese held air strip was captured by Allied Forces on 22 June 1944 during Operation Reckless. The canteen is complete with it's original harness and wooden stopper. A true one-of-a-kind WWII relic.
