Original era manufacture. We purchased this interesting helmet from a gentleman, who, a boy, was given this by his WWII veteran neighbor. The helmet was without a liner, and had some rusty spots on the surface, so another neighbor who worked as a mechanic for TWA, offered to "clean" it up for him. The young boy carefully removed the original star, and handed the helmet up to his well-intentioned neighbor. The resulting commercial aircraft grade silver-metallic coating is now darn near impervious to rust. The original finish helmet star was carefully installed back on the helmet to complete. The helmet has had about 70 years to patina, and it's ordeal now makes a good story. The liner loops and support rings remain intact, and the rim markings on the interior are very clear.
