Original era manufacture. A precision instrument which enabled an artilleryman to properly set the weapons elevation to attain the desired range.The reprint of the US Handbook on Japanese Military Forces, TM-E 30-480, illustrates this particular quadrant on page 283, figure 305. It states in its description that it is thought this pattern was intended for use with the model 41 (1908) 75mm Infantry Gun. Machined steel, with a graduated arc from zero to 1,410 mil, the bubble in the leveling scale is intact. It resides in its original metal reinforced wooden transport box. Measures 5 x 4.5 x 2 inches. One of the brass locking clasps is missing.
