Original era photography. A large format, official image of the Imperial Japanese Navy Ship, Miyoko. The image with mat measures 15x11 inches with an embossed gold chrysanthemum at top center, emperor Hirohito's image appears in an oval in the upper right portion of the photo. There are scuffs in the mat and a small tear in the lower edge. The Miyoko was the lead ship in her class of heavy cruisers built for the IJN, launched in 1927 and commissioned into service in 1929. She had a long and very active service career and was one of the few capital ships remaining to the IJN at the end of WWII. She surrendered to the Royal Navy and was scuttled off Port Swettenham, Malaya in September of 1945.
