Original period manufacture. A clean late war example featuring a blue finished blade without fullers, straight guard, square pommel and slightly contoured wooden grips. Most of the original finish remains on the metal fittings and blade with evidence of light pitting to the blade finish, and a slightly rounded point.  White painted kanji on the top of the blade tang.Nice wooden scabbard made in two halves, with two bands of string binding and original olive green paint finish. Thin crack in the wood body just below the scabbard throat on one side, metal cap on the tip, with scattered smears of gray garage paint on the surface.
