Original period manufacture. A late war example featuring a blue finished blade without fullers, rectangular slab guard, square type pommel and slightly contoured wooden grips.Steel patina finish remains on the blade and metal fittings, with a fairly clear Toyoda stamp on the ricasso. Sound wooden grips, displaying minor marring and denting, no cracks or chips.Old repaint to the  two-piece wooden scabbard with a pointed steel chape. The scabbard body is bound with two bands of twine.  Typical abrasions to the finish, crack in the scabbard body on one side.
