Original period manufacture. A late war example featuring a blue finished blade without fullers, rectangular slab guard, square type pommel and slightly contoured wooden grips. Numerous small nicks and dents to the cutting edge, some of these I feel can be made to go away with a little effort.Clean steel patina finish remains on the blade and metal fittings, with a very clear Toyoda stamp on the ricasso. Sound wooden grips, displaying minor marring and denting, no cracks or chips.Original paint to the  two-piece wooden scabbard with a pointed steel chape. The scabbard body is bound with two bands of twine, with thin stress cracks in the surface on each side. Postwar repainted surface. The pommel of the bayonet is missing the lock mechanism.
