Original period manufacture. A typical late war example featuring a steel patina finished blade without fullers, straight guard, square type pommel and slightly contoured wooden grips. Mix of blue and steel patina finish on the blade, showing scattered staining and evidence of light surface pitting. Evidence of service sharpening along it's length. Clear markings on the ricasso. Original finish wooden grips, displaying typical service marring and denting. Cleaned steel patina finish to the guard and pommel. The lock button works but sticks a bit. Repainted wood surface on the two-piece wooden scabbard. Pointed steel chape, with the body bound with two bands of wire. Overall a complete bayonet which saw considerable use during WWII.
