Original era manufacture. A complete and original example of a Civil style brown painted steel helmet. Affixed to the front of the helmet is a three dimensional brass badge with a painted finish, depicting a ships propeller over an anchor. We purchased this helmet at the most recent SOS in Louisville, and while there showed to a good friend of ours who we consider to be an authority on such things. He commented that the badge itself comes in a few different varieties, and that these were worn by workers in Japanese shipbuilding firms during the war, including shake-down cruises at sea.Small amount of surface corrosion as shown, complete cloth liner with a period replaced wide cotton chinstrap.
