Original era manufacture. A Battle of Tarawa capture, Japanese Navy Hachimachi, clearly marked on one corner, "Taken NOV-23-1923, TARAWA, GILBERT ISLANDS. W.Clark S2/C 98th CB's".  Clark likely was part of the advance personnel accompanying the Marines ashore during the battle, with the remainder of the 1st Section, 98th Naval Construction Battalion (SeeBees) arriving two day's later. Normal age and wear.
