Original era manufacture. This interesting hat certainly has seen its share of wear and use, and is similar to another example which we listed on our page several months back.Basically it is a standard IJN enlisted field cap, Shanghai pattern, with inkstamped issue markings, however, the anchor emblem has been removed, and replaced with a Navy Good Conduct insignia on olive green wool.The owner modified the chinstrap by doing away with the bothersome cloth slide adjusters, and simply tying the ends together so as to make it easier to tie the ends under his chin.The hat displays considerable age and wear, but no holes or tears.
