Original era manufacture. A fully lined white cotton field cap with two machine-sewn black cotton stripes around the body. Black embroidered anchor and mum oval shaped patch at front which is also machine sewn. Brass button on each side holding the thin cotton chinstrap in place. The cap's interior shows a light OD hbt cotton sweatband and a white cotton, machine-sewn triangular shaped nametag on the side. The name Eric Leonhard is handwritten in old ink under the sweatband, likely an attempt by the GI to identify his souvenir. The exterior of the hat shows soiling and staining from age and service use.
